A driver got the accident on tape. She says the truck driver got out of the cab once he was stopped on the tracks and tried to wave to the train to get the conductor's attention.

But, she says he then got back into the cab just before the train hit.

The driver appeared to be okay.

The driver got back into the cab?? Holy crap! I just started reading the FL CDL Manual yesterday, but one of the things that stuck with me for some reason was the part about what to do when you get hung up on train tracks: Leave the truck and call 911.

Glad to hear the driver's okay, though!!!

It's a train!!! There isn;t much you could accomplish by waving at the people onboard anyhow. And to get back in the truck, that has to be one of the stupidest maneuvers I have ever heard of someone doing just before an accident.

"Freight Shakers" have become the cheapest and most able workhorse of the
industry. Quote does not say mechanical failure, maybe a bedbugger forgot to
check the height clearance ? or a heavy haul flatbed ?
If you think Freightliner shakes, you haven't stepped in a new Volvo, some people say even the new Internationals.

As for getting back in the cab, since he's ok I assume only trailer got hit.
Therefore, captain's decision paid off, good job. Debree from the trailer or
the merchandise he's carrying could've hit him while outside, you never know.
Driver was not hurt = Good Job.
But if you want to put a funny spin on it.
Next time get a hazmat load that goes boom and drop trailer 5min. before train arrives - That's how you sabotage Freight Trains and gain workloads.
