MIDLAND COUNTY -- A Midland woman and her infant died Friday as a result of injuries sustained in a morning accident involving a diesel truck north of Midland International Airport.

Fire units received the dispatch at 9:45 a.m., and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded at 9:49 a.m. to the scene near the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 1788 and State Highway 191.
Dead are Megan Bryant, 20, of Midland and her infant, DPS Sgt. Lee Sneed said. The child is believed to have been around 3 months old, although investigators continued Friday to learn more about the baby from family and relatives, Sneed said.

Investigators believe the fatal crash occurred when Bryant, traveling southbound on 1788 in a black Nissan Altima, attempted to make a left-hand turn onto a service road of 191, DPS Trooper Travis McRee said.

Bryant's vehicle collided with a northbound diesel truck impacting on the passenger's side of Bryant's car. The baby was located in the back seat on the driver's side, he said.

The driver of the Simons Petroleum diesel truck was identified as a 50-year-old Midland man, authorities said. The impact tipped the tanker, loaded with 7,000 gallons of diesel, on its side, Midland Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Jeff Meiner said.
