Overturned truck accident caused by errant tire

Quote:
A container truck loaded with bottled water rolled over after it hit a tire from a different truck on Interstate 405 early Monday morning, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The truck was traveling southbound in Kirkland when it struck the tire near Northeast 116th Street just after midnight, Trooper Courtney Stewart said.
"We don't know where it came from," she said. "But it was a semi-truck tire."
The driver was fine, but the accident caused up to 10 miles of congestion during the morning commute hours.
The truck and its trailer initially blocked all lanes, but crews were able to move it to a nearby construction area. Crews also unloaded the bottled water, Stewart said.
All lanes re-opened around 8 a.m.
In May, there were at least five incidents in the Seattle area of large trucks losing their tires, which can weigh as much as 300 pounds.
Bothell resident John Ellis died that month after a truck's wheel assembly hit his SUV, as he was driving on Interstate 5 in Tukwila.
Tacoma resident Sung Shin escaped injury when some wheels hit his Nissan Sentra on Interstate 90 in Issaquah.
In one case, a tire from a truck bounced over a freeway fence in Issaquah, flew through the air and hit the roof of a house and bounced into another house, the State Patrol reported.
