Indiana Truck Driver killed In I-26 Accident

Indiana Truck Driver killed In I-26 Accident

Quote:
An Indiana truck driver was killed when two tractor-trailers collided on Interstate 26 in northern Spartanburg County Tuesday night. The accident forced troopers to divert traffic off the interstate for more than six hours.

The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office says Richard Groover, Junior, 36, died when another 18-wheeler crossed the median and hit his tractor trailer around 9:00pm Tuesday. The driver of the other truck was flown to the hospital for treatment.

The Highway Patrol says a car traveling on west I-26 went off the road and over corrected. That car hit a tractor-trailer and sent that large truck across the median and into the path of the 18-wheeler being driven by Groover.

The driver of the westbound car, that hit the 18-wheeler, was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

A car with four people inside - including a child - hit the median behind Groover's truck. We're told none of the occupants of that car were injured.

The Highway Patrol says they are still investigating the accident. Traffic flow was back to normal by the early hours of Wednesday morning.
