Woman killed in I-94 collision

Woman killed in I-94 collision
8/11/07
Michigan
Quote:
A woman was killed Friday night when her white Mercury Cougar and a tractor-trailer collided near the Sargent Road exit on I-94, according to the Michigan State Police.
Names of those involved in the crash were not immediately released. The cause of the crash was unclear. Trooper Darren Green said it is unknown whether alcohol was a factor, or whether the woman was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash, which appeared to be head-on, happened sometime after 10 p.m.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not seriously injured. He was walking around the scene following the crash. The tractor-trailer was a car-hauler and had two sport-utility vehicles aboard. It sustained front-end damage.
The woman's car was crumpled, its roof dented and the front windshield shattered. There was glass all over the eastbound lane of I-94, near the Sargent Road exit, as police were taking photos of the scene.
The wreck caused closure of both eastbound lanes of the highway; one westbound lane was open as of 11:30 p.m.
