BENSENVILLE) One man is dead and another was hospitalized after a semi truck broadsided the car they were traveling in Sunday morning in northwest suburban Bensenville.

The crash occurred about 5 a.m. at Irving Park Road and Walnut Street, according to a Bensenville police dispatcher.
Upon arrival, police found two occupants of a green, 1998 Honda two-door car seriously injured. The car collided with a 2007 semi truck. The male driver of the Honda, who died in the crash, and a male passenger were taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst. Their names were not immediately available, the dispatcher said.
A preliminary investigation determined the truck was traveling east on Irving Park Road in the curb lane when it collided with the Honda, which was traveling north through a parking lot at 460 Irving Park Road. The parking lot is located on the south side of Irving Park Road, the dispatcher said.
The car pulled out in front of the truck as it exited the parking lot. The truck driver was unable to stop and struck the car on the driver's side, the dispatcher said.
The truck driver was not injured or cited with any traffic violations. The DuPage County coroner’s office, Illinois State Police, DuPage County Sheriff’s police and the Bensenville Police Department are investigating.
