| Trucker trying to help motorist hurt on I-65 Trucker trying to help motorist hurt on I-65 10/29/07 Louisville Courier-Journal, KY - Quote:
A truck driver trying to help another motorist was taken to the hospital in critical condition after an accident this afternoon.
Just after 1 p.m. a woman driving a Mazda Protégé northbound on Interstate 65 near the Gene Snyder Freeway hit the median wall and her car flipped over, said Officer Phil Russell, a spokesman for Louisville Metro Police.
Within moments of the accident, the driver of a southbound tractor-trailer truck pulled over to the side and got out to help, Russell said. As he attempted to run across the southbound lanes, he was struck by an oncoming El Camino.
The truck driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, Russell said.
The woman driving the Mazda also was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Russell said. A baby in her vehicle did not appear to have been injured.
