FMCSA orders Tornado Bus to cease commercial operations

FMCSA orders Tornado Bus to cease commercial operations
12/28/07
Quote:
A bus company involved in a fatal crash in Arkansas last month has been declared an “imminent hazard” by the Federal Motor Safety Administration and must cease all commercial operations immediately. The order was served to Dallas-based Tornado Bus Co. by FMCSA officials on Friday, Dec. 21.

"Based upon your present state of unacceptable safety compliance and your failure to adequately establish safety management systems and oversee your drivers’ duty status and hours of service, your motor carrier operation poses an ‘imminent hazard’ to public safety,” the FMCSA document states. The order is “binding upon Tornado and each of its officers, directors, successors and assigns.”

On Nov. 25, a Tornado bus struck a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer near Earle, Ark., killing three bus passengers and the driver of the pickup. An initial review of the Tornado driver’s records of duty by FMCSA investigators revealed that the driver had exceeded the maximum hours of service allowed and had falsely listed the presence of a co-driver when none existed. As a result of the crash, FMCSA on Nov. 26 initiated a compliance review at the company’s Dallas headquarters.

I am sorry about the ones that died in that crash .... but I am glad that they were finally shut down by the government

This is a company that I dealt with before when I was driving coaches .... they are like swift .... hire anyone with a heartbeat .... none of their drivers had a clue what to do

I hope that they are shut down for a long time .... they may not be truck drivers but they still make our imagine look bad with things like this

tTornado crash

The shut-down is temporary, they can resume operation IF the follow the rules.. The same rules they have been breaking for over 6 YEARS that the
FMCSA know of.
This company has a long history of doing what they damn well please and dont really care about following the rules.

Thumbs up

Was just watching the DFW news. Reporters were at the Tornado headquarters in DLS. Lots of illegals were there whining that they could not get back to Mex for New Years. Didn't talk much about the violations that got them shut down. But they were going to do more investigating to see that these criminals got a refund.

They should remake the movie, "Twister," with sleep deprived/crazy driver as the main character..... with the moral being, a sleepy driver is scarier than a tornado. Sorry, bad sense of humor just kicked in.
Seriosly though, people need to reflect on the decisions they make when it comes to HOS.
