| Trucking Company Blamed In Death Has History Of Violations Trucking Company Blamed In Death Has History Of Violations 2/5/08 Quote:
MILWAUKEE - A TODAY’S TMJ4 Exclusive: a trucking company blamed in the death of a Mequon doctor has a history of violations.
Dr. Krishna Neni was killed when a semi tire crashed through his windshield on I-43 back in November.
TODAY’S TMJ4 has obtained of documents which show a pattern of problems with the trucking company, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.
These documents show concerns with the brakes, problems with the lights on the trucks, speeding, and other violations of the law.
We looked at Michigan state police reports for Holmes QST Inc for 2004 through 2007, and showed them to a truck inspector at the Wisconsin State Patrol.
TODAY’S TMJ4’s Mick Trevey: ““Do you see a pattern?
“Yes, I do,” Inspector Nakia Guiton said.
Mick Trevey: “What's that pattern?”
“What I’m noticing is that either the driver is not doing pre-trip inspections and also I notice with the brake violations, the company is probably not doing consistent PM's on the vehicles,” Guiton said.
PM means "preventative maintenance."
The brake problems include brakes out of adjustment, brake connections with leaks, and a brake pad not contacting the brake surface.
Also, laws limit the number of hours a truck driver can be on the road. We found Holmes drivers sometimes ignore those rules. The Michigan State Police reports show drivers were busted nine times for going over the number of hours allowed, and 19 times for not keeping up their hours log books.
