High winds topple 18-wheeler, cause DFW traffic woes

High winds topple 18-wheeler, cause DFW traffic woes

Straight-line winds that toppled 18-wheel trucks and scattered debris across Dallas-Forth Worth roadways created a nightmarish commute for some drivers across the Metroplex.
The storms struck at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, toppling 18-wheelers, downing trees and fences, lifting roofs and leaving widespread power outages. Some of the traffic problems included:
  • A toppled 18-wheeler forced the closure of Loop 820 near Trinity Boulevard in Fort Worth. The southbound lanes were reopened about 8 a.m.
  • Another overturned big rig on Interstate 35W at FM917 near Alvarado caused traffic to be diverted to an access road.
  • Traffic has been slow on Texas 360 near Pioneer Parkway in Arlington for several hours due to debris.
  • Wintergreen Road in DeSoto was closed due to debris on the road.
  • Downed power lines across the Dallas-Forth Worth area knocked out numerous signal lights and slowed traffic on side roads.
  • More here>>>>>>
