CHICAGO — A fire department spokesman says two people are dead and at least 19 others injured after a tractor trailer crashed into a Chicago Transit Authority station.

The Chicago Fire Department spokesman said officials expect more injuries, and 15 ambulances have been called to the Cermak-Chinatown Red Line station on the city's South Side.
Witnesses say the truck didn't appear to slow down before it plowed into the station.
Chicago police say the accident happened about 5:20 p.m. Police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor says she doesn't have information about the number of injuries.

I figured as much, but say "We are investigating", something. Not, "we're all going bowling, so catch us Monday", which is how it sounds.

Not sure how he got up enough speed to do that kind of damage. That area is pretty congested.

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- Elliott Reed said the scene was surreal: As he walked toward the Chicago Transit Authority train station in the midst of an otherwise normal, busy rush hour, a tractor trailer exiting a nearby expressway made a sudden and violent detour.

Say goodbye to 55. Say hello to 45.

Or at least some kind of backlash will take place in Illinois.

Six pack - I thought that was Mo - one of the reasons BATF/FBI/INS raided that Swift place...

I used to use that station a lot, back in the day... visiting a girlfriend. Many many years ago.

I'd love to know the outcome of the investigation.. driver at fault, or was there mechanical failure? Or even something else...
