Quote:
WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ) ― A driver was seriously hurt when a drive shaft flew off a truck and smashed through the windshield of a Mercedes on Route 128 Monday.

The unidentified driver was travelling on 128 south in Waltham near the Totten Pond Road exit when the 40-pound piece of steel came off a Maki Building Centers truck, shattered the car's driver's side windshield and landed in the passenger seat.

The Mercedes driver was rushed to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

The truck driver stopped after the accident. There's no word yet if any charges will be filed.

if the drive shaft fell off of the truck, it seems that it wasn't tied down .. if it fell out from under the truck due to mechanical failure, it should have been vibrating seriously for some time, giving the driver warning that something was WRONG with the truck.....

Lazy

Sound to me that this is one of thoes drivers that comes to work and jumps in a truck and never do a pre-trip, I've seen this alot in compaines that hire a lot of family members and never inforce the rules, just drive.

I saw in MI where two old biddies nailed a canadian goose with their buick. Destroyed the windshield and they were sitting there in their car looking like WHAT IN THE HELL DID WE JUST DO.

It was comical even tho I am certain they did not think so.
