ATV collides with 18-wheeler

Ferriday teen killed when ATV collides with 18-wheeler
5/16/08
Alexandria Town Talk, LA
Quote:
A teenager driving an all-terrain vehicle died Thursday evening after colliding with an 18-wheeler in Concordia Parish, State Police Troop E reported.
The victim was identified by police as Michael Griggs, 14, of Ferriday. He was driving north on Levens Addition Road on the four-wheeler and did not stop at the intersection of the road and U.S. Highway 84, police said.
Gary Haney of Cave Springs, Ark., was eastbound on the highway in a Peterbilt rig when Griggs collided with the rear right portion of the truck, police said.

Griggs was ejected from the all-terrain vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

This is going to happen here soon seems the police dont care if you ride an ATV on State or County roads even though its against the law.At night they have bright lights that blind oncoming traffic.Someone needs to wake up before a lot of kids and adults get killed on them

They have really been cracking down on them here. And this would be why. It just baffles me, why they need to be on the roads.

IMO they are letting to many on the roads now that was not intended for the highways at the beginning. One person may ride safe but there will be ten that doesnt.Just look at the race bikes wheelies at 70 mph on a crowded freeway driving 80 to 100 mph.

Hell, I've seen some people in Buffalo use Chinese ATV's in the city..."Can't get a license, don't like the bus, get an AGV (All Ghetto Vehicle)"... I can see these now being sold "buy here pay here"

up north here, there are lots of hazards on the road!!! winter is even worse, besides the deer, 4 wheelers and potholes, we now have to watch out for idiots on snowmobiles, that don't stop before crossing the highways, and interstates. came close to a couple of them fools, and it would have probably been my fault.
