Big Rig Makes Wrong Turn, Gets Stuck Under Overpass

Big Rig Makes Wrong Turn, Gets Stuck Under Overpass

Quote:
JOLIET, Ill. -- A semi truck driver making a wrong turn onto Interstate 55 from Interstate 80 on Thursday morning led to a major traffic mess near southwest suburban Joliet, though no injuries were reported.

The big rig was carrying a nonhazardous oversized load at around 5 a.m.

When it attempted to turn from I-80 onto southbound I-55, the only way it was permitted to go, a release from Illinois State Police Joliet District said. However, the driver mistakenly exited onto northbound I-55 and struck the overpass, which caused his load to shift and get stuck between the trailer and overpass. The load was described as a trailer house. More........ http://www.nbc5.com/news/16655456/detail.html

Signs Low underpasses

I been thru cities and towns that didn't not one sign to show a low bridge, why? they are so quick to find the driver and still don't see the need for signs.

This happens all the time up in wspfld Ma, where I use to work.. There is a train over pass that is clearly marked 12 ft, and trucks still try to go under it and then get jammed. They go to fast and when they get stuck their trailer looks like a "V" with the tandoms up off the ground..

And if they resurface, the roads, without scrapping the old, then the new height should also be posted to show the reduction from the original posted height
