SANTA ANA A Santa Ana teen was struck and killed by a big rig as he crossed the street Monday night, according to officials.

The 14-year-old boy, whose name was not released, was killed while crossing Poplar Street and St. Andrew Place, said Cmdr. Doug McGeachy of the Santa Ana police department.

The accident occurred when a westbound big rig tractor, without a trailer, hit the boy.

That is very sad. I feel really bad for the family and I can't even begin to imagine what that driver is going through. The whole thing is just really sad.
