Deer zone? I think our entire state is a friggin' deer zone.

Speaking of slowing down, I had to run an errand yesterday morning during "commute time"... and traffic was flowing at a smooth 25/30 mph on the heavily traveled two-lane highway I was on. At the head of a very LONG string of traffic was some poor sob hauling a very unusual looking, very wide load.

I'm pretty laid back about this stuff, but I felt bad for the guy knowing that probably 95% of the people in line were probably thinking unkind thoughts about the guy. He was probably as happy to ramp onto the four-lane as those behind him.

The company I drive for says stay straight, and take out the deer! We recently had a driver total out a truck and trailer, trying to 'dodge' a deer.
He is no longer with our company. They would happily replace a bumper, and/or radiator.

By the way, our safety committee is made up of 6 drivers who just happen to be hanging around the office when they want to have a safety meeting. They read over accident reports filed by drivers, and take a vote on whether they are preventable, or not.

Any Info on WV 64 Accident

Does anyone know how the 8/5/08 accident on 64 near Charleston, WV happened. I know a R&L double overturned the second trailer and spilled hazmat over both sides of the highway closing both directions. Also there was a fatality invovled. I sat in the northbound lanes for four hours until the road was opened. Apparently southbound was closed until 8 am the next morning. sorry I mistakenly responded to this post instead of starting a new thread.

I think all of Wisconsin is an 'Antler Alley Zone' too.
