A semi tractor-trailer rolled and burst into flames on Interstate 10 Friday morning, closing down the freeway.

The accident happened at about 10 a.m. on Interstate 10 at the I-17 split near Sky Harbor Airport.

An Arizona Department of Transportation camera showed traffic stopped and some vehicles turning around on the freeway to use the nearby 24th Street freeway off-ramp.

Westbound Interstate 10 traffic is being routed onto Interstate 17 northbound. The closure is expected to be in place for one to two hours, according to an official with DPS.

The driver was injured but got out of the truck before it caught on fire, according to DPS.

There is no word yet on how the accident happened.

It's a pretty sharp turn there where I-10 goes from a westbound direction and heads north - and then back west again. A heavily loaded truck - if the driver isn't paying attention - can easily roll if it's going too fast. Not the first time there's been an accident at the particular point. Although, I'm not saying for sure that's the reason - could have been an idiot driver cut him off and he lost control of the vehicle, who knows.
