A Clarksville man was fatally struck by a tractor trailer Monday afternoon while he secured his truck's fuel cap on Western Kentucky Parkway near Clarkson, Ky., according to a Kentucky State Police news release.

Joseph C. Litz, 70, was traveling east near mile marker 114 when he stopped and exited his 2004 Ford pickup, according to the release.
Jerry L. Howard, 37, of Someville, Tenn., was driving the tractor trailer that hit Litz, according to the release. The semi then hit Litz's truck and another, unoccupied vehicle before rolling into woods.
Litz's wife, Brenda J. Litz, 67, was in the passenger's seat and wasn't hurt. The release didn't indicate any charges against Howard. Litz died at the scene.
