I-15 closed when semi truck hits overpass

I-15 closed when semi truck hits overpass

There's a big mess on I-15 in Utah County tonight.

The accident happened at about 7:30 tonight. Two giant tanks came off of a semi truck when it hit an overpass in American Fork. The overpass has a clearance of only 14 feet 7 inches, and the load exceeded that. One of the tanks smashed an SUV, which then caught on fire. Luckily, the occupants of the SUV got out and weren't injured.

It amazes me how many people can't seem to read. There is also a sign about a mile before that overpass advising overheight vehicles to exit.

Well someone is going to get a brand new SUV out of that one! And one more driver loses his job and possibly his CDL because he did not read the low clearance sign.

14' 7" and he was too high for that? Where was the pilot/pole car for that one? Definitely should have been a permitted load. Somebody will get spanked for that one.
