Quote:
BROOKSVILLE, FL -- A 4-year-old child was killed on US 41 after the car she was riding in collided with a semi truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Susan Eggers of Masaryktown was waiting to make a left turn onto Palacky Street around 8 a.m. when a semi-truck failed to slow down and slammed into Eggers' car.

There were three children, ages 17, 4 and 3. None were properly restrained, investigators said.

The 4-year-old, Haley Stalter, was taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital where she later died. Eggers was seriously hurt and the other children suffered minor injuries.

The truck driver, 46-year-old Francisco Hernandez , has not yet been charged in connection with the crash.

US 41 was closed for more than an hour.
