Logging Truck Slams Into House

9/9/08

News Channel 7, SC
Quote:
A woman was in her home, when all of a sudden, a logging truck came barreling into the house.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at a home on Watercourse Way in Greer.
The semi, lost its breaks while it was unattended up the street at a construction site, and rolled down the street, swiping the house and crashing into a bedroom.
The homeowner, Darlene D’Angelo, told us, “I heard the loud boom, and I saw the truck come right through the bedroom. I got up and called 911.”
The truck crashed through her son Austin’s room. He told us he was grateful he wasn’t home and injured.
The trucking company; Vanport, based out of Greer, tells us they were ticketed for not placing wheel chocks under the truck. They say they will do so in the future so this doesn’t happen again.
The company’s insurance is working with the family to repair the damage.
No one was hurt
