Cost to recover rocket booster: $5.6 million Quote: The military says it cost $5.6 million to recover an overturned truck carrying an unarmed missile booster rocket in northwestern North Dakota. The Air Force blamed "driver and safety observer error" for the July 31 incident. The truck carrying the booster for the unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile tipped over on a gravel road while being transported from the Minot Air Force Base to a launch facility 70 miles southwest. I met one of those convoys once. I first noticed the helicopter flying around up front. Thought maybe it was a military medivac because I could see a large amount of emergency lights. Second good look at the helicopter confirmed ems was not on their mind. It was extremely heavily armed. Met the first of 4 black suv's with serious looking people on board. Met 2 humvee type vehicles with arms and soldiers manning the weapons. Met the truck with all kinds of radioactive tags on it. Followed by another bunch of serious people. You have no doubt what you met.

I cannot remember extreme details of the truck except it was blue. I caught the triangles out of the corner of my eye. It was an interesting scene. I have been running that road for over 4 years and it was the first for me.
