Wheel Trucking Accident Caused by Exploding Tire

Trucking Accident Caused by Exploding Tire

Quote:
Boca Raton, FL: It may seem minor, but an exploding tire from a tractor trailer can cause a lot of damage. Not all trucking accidents are two or three vehicle collisions. In some cases, something explodes from, or falls off, the tractor trailer, causing damage to the other vehicles on the road. Because the semi truck is so big, the driver may not even realize anything has happened.

"I do a lot of traveling between here and South Carolina because I have a 98 year old grandmother and cousins in South Carolina," Dave M. says. "In the past few years, I've noticed there are more and more dead tire carcasses on the road. You see them, you swerve to avoid them and usually you're fine. I've been driving over a quarter of a century with no accidents.

This is the very reason when on the road, I will not ride along or right behind a Semi. No sir. Big trucks can have the road as far as I am concerned, they are much BIGGER than me in my little 4 wheeler. I have been known to do 20+ miles over the speed limit just to get past one as quick as I can. If I cant manage to get over and get around, I am the car riding a good ways back at 10-15 mph under the speed limit until I can successfully get over and get around. Also, I wont ride behind a car when passing a truck....I hang back, let them pass the truck and get over or let them get far enough ahead that I can get over safely in front of the truck once I pass it and then I gas it.

It was proven on Mythbusters that if a Semi's tire blew and you were riding alongside that it CAN kill you. It showed if a strip of the tire come through the passenger side window that it has the potential of breaking your neck and other nasty things.

Truckers also pay more than $300 per tire and they buy a lot more than 4 .

I would concur... It has been my experience that 99.998% of people who drive BMW's are arrogant type A's who believe the road is their's and their's alone.

Too bad the tire didn't whack him in the head.

Considering the source of the article/report, yeah, he's a real piece. Of course, you're probably noticing more 'gators' along the road that you did 25 years ago, there are more trucks on the road now than 25 years ago. I'd like to know where he gets the idea that even a retread for a rig is cheaper than $300.

They're not 'gators', it's a dead tire carcass!

I thought something had to be alive at one point to become a carcass!
