Exclamation I-5 closed due to severe freeway pile up

Quote:
BUTTONWILLOW, Calif.—The California Highway Patrol says three big rigs and approximately 10 smaller vehicles have collided during a severe dust storm on southbound Interstate 5 near Buttonwillow in the southern San Joaquin Valley. CHP Officer Holt Schulte (SHOOL'-tee) says the exact number of vehicles involved in the Tuesday afternoon pileup is not known due to the dust storm.
Schulte says poor visibility likely contributed to the accident. The crash occurred at about 4:05 p.m. and forced closure of the four-lane highway in both directions. Traffic has been diverted onto Highway 58.
Schulte says emergency rescue vehicles, including an air ambulance are on scene, but there's no information on injuries. [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link.

Hmmm, lets see. You don't know the exact number of vehicles involved because of how dusty it is and you say poor visibility likely contributed to the accident.

Blowing dust brought all traffic to a stop on Interstate 5 Tuesday afternoon and caused a chain reaction accident that led to the closure of northbound lanes at 4:15 p.m. Southbound traffic was being taken off the freeway at Highway 46.

"Slowhio" is a term that will soon be fondly remembered as a way the state was referred to prior to the State Transportation Bill signed into law by Gov. Ted Strickland recently that eliminated split speed limits in Ohio.

Not sure on the time line, but the separate truck speed limit on the states interstate highways is gone!
