UPS truck crash kills driver, closes N. Indiana road

Quote:
ROCHESTER, Ind. — A semitrailer carrying UPS packages crashed head-on into a U.S. 31 overpass in northern Indiana, killing the truck driver and closing part of the highway for much of the day.

State police say the crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when the semi driven by 53-year-old Robert L. Bozell of Tipton went into the four-lane highway's median and struck a concrete pillar for the Indiana 14 overpass near Rochester.

Indiana 14 was closed until an inspection of the overpass found no structural damage. The southbound lanes of U.S. 31 were closed for several hours as debris was cleaned up and UPS workers removed packages from the wrecked trailers.

Sounds like he fell asleep at the wheel, or possible heart attack.

Gee maybe he blew a steer tire? Or had a mechanical failure in the truck? Maybe he dodged another car that maybe left the scene? Or a deer?

But oh yeah, I forgot, Its always much more easy to just blame the driver or a health problem. with no evidence..
I can guarentee the only reason why anyone would claim sleep or heart attack without quoting any given evidence is because of all the hysteria concerning sleep apnea and/or other "health related" issues brought about by the media.

At 6:30 am I would guess he fell asleep. U.P.S. has a lot of oncall drivers. "driver waits buy the phone 24/7" Even though it is "illegal" to start a driver or require him to drive when he is likely to become impaired due fatigue or illness. this driver may have been awake 10-12 hours before reporting for work. And may have been awake 24 hours straight
