Quote:
DURHAM -- One person is dead and another is in hospital with severe burns following an accident in Whitby late Sunday night.

Ontario Provincial Police report a motorist on the eastbound Hwy. 401 exit ramp to the ministry of transportation truck inspection station was in reverse, trying to back up onto the highway, when a Montreal-bound transport coming off the highway plowed into the car.

Oh, that looks BAD...
Such sad, senseless accidents...

Without having witnessed the accident, it's impossible for me to say who was at fault. Of course, the 4-wheeler shouldn't have been on the scale ramp, but why didn't the big truck driver see him? Regardless, I would not be surprised if the truck driver was charged.

I was wondering the same thing. The driver said he came over a hill or a rise and had no time to react when he saw the car. I haven't been to that scale in a while but I can't remember entering any inspection station where there wasn't a clear view.
