| Semi driver charged in collision with train in Brevard Quote: The driver of a semi-tractor trailer carrying nearly 4,000 gallons of chlorine today faces charges of careless driving after a train struck his vehicle in Brevard County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Mark Siani, 55, of Palm Harbor had pulled out of a private driveway at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and made a right turn onto Kings Highway, near U.S. Highway 1 and Capron Road in Port St. John.
Siani started to cross the railroad tracks, but failed to make it across when the trailer became stuck on the tracks. Troopers said the crossing arms came down on the semi and Siani ran from the vehicle.
The train, approaching from the north, struck the semi's cab and pushed it southward. The chlorine did not leak from the trailer, but about 35 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the truck.
Reports show Siani and the train's engineer, James Bush, of Jacksonville, did not suffer injuries in the collision | http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...0,263312.story |
