This Damage Courtesy of J.B. Hunt

Well, here I sit, waiting and not making any money. I had to report to the Jackson Terminal to get my regular Maintenance done. This usually takes a half day or so, and they swap you and give you a new load, if your current load will be late. No problem, right? HOWEVER, 2 days ago I was sitting at a loading dock in Detroit, minding my own business, taking a nap, when WHAM!!! A J.B. Hunt driver swung his front end a little too far over and crunched my fender and bumper. It literally knocked me out of my bunk. I was in a lighted area, with my parking lights on at about 5 am. As I was getting to my feet, I saw him pull foward and then continue backing into the dock. Putting my boots on, I noticed he was just sitting there like nothing happened. I got out, looked at the damage and started towards his truck. As he got out, he apologized and said he didn't see me while he was backing up. Then immediately asked, "Hey, did you see who won that ball game last night?" HUH? Man I have to call my company. He said, yeah I already called mine. He had very little damage to his truck, because his tire contected my truck causing thee damage. He had a couple of smudges and small scratches. I obtained his name, truck info, and took my accident kit from the truck, snapped some pictures and called road breakdown. They sent a service truck out to pry the fender and bumper off of my tire, so I could drive it to a service center. Later, I went to a Freightliner Service center, where the body man jacked up the bumper, banged it back into place and roughly bolted the fender on. It looked better than it did and good enough to get me through the DOT scales, but still looked like ####. But he was just trying to repair enough to get me home. I was given a load home and routed back to Jackson, for inspection and repairs in addition to my regular maintenance. My truck is currently getting an alignment. That's how hard he hit me.
All was OK and I was needing a 34 reset anyway, so no big deal, UNTIL, I talked to the people in the Claims Dept to follow up on giving them the info and camera, and they said, the JB Hunt Driver has totally denied anything to do with it. He said he never got into a wreck and doesn't know what they are talking about.
This dirtbag has decided to try to screw me over for his mistake, and let me take the blame for his accident. Of course I have pictures and one of his truck, but Police wouldn't come to make the report. I called Detroit PD and was told they didn't write accident reports on private property and they hung up on me. So now, all I have to go on is my word and hopefully, the photos of a disposable camera. Meanwhile this worthless butt wipe is trying to deny any involvement. Is this the kind of guy that JB Hunt hires. By the way, he's in truck number #######.

Well it is a good thing you have his truck number. You did get his name too right? Some people will do anything to get out of something. Truth be known he has probably had this happen before and this would have been the last straw and he would have been fired. Seems to me like he is denying it to keep his job....

I took a close up picture of the drivers face, a longer shot of him standing beside his truck with the number next to him, and another shot of him standing next to his truck with his trailer jammed into my hood. I also took a picture of his drivers license.

I didn't want to take any chances. I used the whole disposable up taking pics from every angle I could think of.

I also stood next to him as he called in, then talked to his company people myself with his phone.

Its company policy to never say they're at fault. Actually, that goes for any person who drives a vehicle.

You did the right thing using every picture you had available to you in the disposable camera...no need to "save" shots for future use.

Good luck to ya!

Well you should have nothing to worry about since you got all those pics especially the one of his vehicle backed into yours.

I had that happen at the Hook in KC MO. Was told the police would not come out and take a report. Guy took my hood off and they did come out and file a report... not sure why, but they did..
