This wreck might not have happened had the FCC driver been as aware as the faster driver in the truck that passed them both.

This wreck might not have happened had the passing driver hailed a warning to the FCC driver.

This wreck might not have happened had (insert favorite what-if here)

Fact is, it did. Everyone involved, including the passing driver, holds some responsibility. If any one of them had done something differently, one man would still be alive cussing and sputtering about slow trucks.

Well I guess we will eventually find out what really happened with this accident, but I will put it this way. The crst driver for whatever reason whether he was having difficulties with driving or was having mechanical issues with the truck, he should have pulled that truck over to the shoulder! Apparently he doesn't have any ounce of common sense. People can say whatever they want but because of sheer stupidity someone lost their life needlessly. if you don't have the sense to pull the truck over if you are having an issue, well then you don't deserve to drive a truck for any reason. Believe it or not stupid people cause more incidents than can imagine because of sheer stupidity!

I guess i'll have too jump in again, yes it sad ,someone lost there life over this, but i too have too remind myself when i first stared out i never left the state of Iowa, so here i was going too california with a load of paper @4300 in the trl, and yes this the first load out of crst yard, i know Ia had hill's, but not like anything i'm gonna meet, trainer was pretty good, i was driving thru the flat lands, then we hit donner pass, i heard alot about it, and i looked at my trainer and said you want me do a wat, he said he got it up here, now your gonna take it down, o gess, o gawd lookee way down there, so with his help, my nerves were on edge, i was crawling down that pass. throw 4 way on and just doing my thing like they taught me in school, course the super truckers were blowing there horns and yelling on the radio , get outa the way rookee , dang dang crst anyway, but i made it, then hit the restroom too change out my drawers , so with my trainer help, i passed with flying colors, since then i been over donner and several others always with my 4 ways on and top speed of 12 mph , i dont care about anyboby else , cause im in my safe zone, let the super truckers go by at 65 ,at lest im up here on the road and not down there upside down, so you see he might of been out his element of safety, who knows what really happen ,mayby he just pulled off the shoulder in the first place, then got calm down and decide too go back to driving again,we never know till the courts figure it all out, so just rember we all was there, as this student was one time or anthor, we all had to start somewere at the bottom then work up, exp just dont happen overnight or know were to go in the city, becuse belive me a city in daylight , looks a whole differnt at night .:yes2557:

no he wasnt doing 5 or ten slower than 65 he was crawling at 5 or ten on a 65....this career is rated among the top ten most dangerous in the country i think all the new drivers should really prepare themselves mentally for anything can happen in a split second and lives can change forever i myself keep an open bible on my dashboard and im a firm believer...i put my life on his Hands every time im behind the wheel..peace

Hey everett i understand where ur coming from and i also know when you come down the hills you dont do 12 mph anymore because u know what ur doing already but i agree experienced drivers shouldt talk smack because they had to learn at some point.. its like this either u pick it up within 6 months or you dont...but common sense has a big role to play to remain accident free within the first 6 months those are crucial for the future of your career.

Yes you are correct, that was my first run, after that i went down the posted speed limit like it says on that big sign , you stop at too check your brakes, but yes my first time i went real slow, but after a couple years and getting used to the truck , i can go over em with the speed limit, i'm still amazed at how many truck's blow by the stop station too check for brakes, i just used that as my rest break for a few mins too check everything, i also seen quite few caught up in the quik sand going down,i bet that be a hefty tow bill , better to be safe then sorry, o, you gotta love pa and those downhill hair pin curves were the rear of your trl swings wide on these so called hyways and brush the tree limbs , them are lotta fun too :biggrin_25520:

Guys, NO ONE has verified the CRST truck's actual speed. Until all the calculations are done, there's no way to know, especially when you're sitting behind a computer monitor.

They said the CSRT guy was disoriented. Well, no feces. Have you ever been in a serious wreck? This guy had just been hit from behind, the other truck exploded, and someone died. Are you going to be at your sharpest wit and having your "stuff together" after something like that? Most likely not. I've investigated many, many accidents back in the day, and even after just a fender-bender, most people are completely freaked out for a myriad of reasons.

I wonder how this thread would play out had the names on the wagons been reversed....

Oh, man, you opened a can of worms there! CRST would be the new curse word... and the Crash & Roll Stunt Team jokes would be flying.

Well yes it did say he was disoriented, but it also said he thought he was going up an incline & that was the reason he was going sooo slow. Appearantly he was disoriented before the accident.
