I~40 east and west in AR at MM 201 6/21/12

LITTLE ROCK — Both eastbound and westbound lanes at Interstate 40 near the 201 mile marker have reopened following a Thursday morning wreck and fire in a construction zone.
Arkansas State Police dispatchers said it happened about 6 a.m. at the 201 mile marker, which is near the White River bridge just west of the Highway 33 exit.
The interstate was shut down in both directions for several hours. The westbound lanes were reopened after 10:30 a.m., but eastbound remained closed at 11:30 a.m., dispatchers said.
Eastbound traffic was being detoured at exit 193 to Highway 70 until all lanes were reopened.
Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said all injuries in the crash were minor and every person involved has been treated and released.

the backup for this was awful. we sat in it for 2 hrs. another driver said he had been in it for 4 hrs before he could get to the detour....the trailer burned beyond repair (saw it myself) the story was a Celadon and a car got into it in the construction and the truck caught fire...i cant find anything else????

I would imagine getting any kind of emergency or tow trucks to the scene is a nightmare. It's single lane both ways in that zone. I saw a sign it was closed going east when I was on 440 early yesterday morning and jumped on 70 there. A little bit slower than riding all the way up 40 till they made you get off but I made that time up not waiting to get down to 70 from 40.

They don't seem to have much of a plan for emergencies on that stretch of road, and it's a terrible construction zone.

this area where the construction, is a nightmare. I'm surprised there havent been any more wrecks on it. You got billy bigrigger super truckers, wanting to speed in A POSTED Constructions zone, then when some ones tells them to chill, they start off with the 'F' Bombs, etc.
RKANSAS on the other hand needs to be more PROACTIVE patroling this entire stretch.
