I ran across another news article about an accident on I-94 near MENOMONIE, WI., Aug 1. A 43-yr old trucker was killed when he rear ended a truck parked in the middle of the road. The stopped truck was driven by a 22 yr old who admitted to having smoked a joint of synthetic marijuana at the rest area he had just left.

I do not understand how these guys get a CDL, does the synthetic forms of drugs not show up in a drug test.

If you don't test for a drug, it won't show up. To my knowledge, there is no test for K2 as of right now.

From that range, air pack is no big deal.

The wearing of jeans, shows poor training and a volunteer.

We are 100% volunteer and gear is the main safety.

And here is another one from Minnesota:

HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota truck driver has been sentenced to a year in jail for a crash that killed two drivers and an unborn child and released thousands of bees two years ago.
The Dakota County Attorney's office says 38-year-old Jason Styrbicky of Buffalo also will be on probation for up to 10 years.
Styrbicky also will serve 40 hours of community service each year he is on probation. He will have to pay restitution.
A judge found Styrbicky guilty of three counts of criminal vehicular homicide and one count of careless driving.
Authorities say Styrbicky rammed into the rear of two cars in Lakeville, crushing them between his truck and another truck carrying bees.
Styrbicky told an investigator he was trying to retrieve an energy drink can when the crash happened.

WTH is wrong with these idiots? Prayers to the family of the driver that was killed. I hope they throw the book at that young punk!!

Yep, all the fire departments in the county where I live are voluntary. Most of them are real good about safety, but then there are some that would be out fighting a fire dressed the same way. They even show up in their POVs.

Let's see, we had 2 adults and unborn child killed, and this guy only gets 1 year in jail? I guess that says a lot about what that judge feels a human life is worth. 10 yrs probation, with 40 hours of community service. Hopefully it will have some severe requirements, like picking up garbage in the ditches only when the temperature is above 100 degs, and humidity above 80%, all while wearing long-sleeved flannel shirts, wool trousers and a coat!!

Yes it is hard to believe some of these cases and no more jail time than what the person received.
The one in WI is facing negligent and reckless homicide I think is what the article said.

It is a sad day when trucking is reduced to some of these idiots, it almost makes you afraid to even be near one just in case.

    Be safe and watchful everyone.
