They still have not caught the hit and run truck driver ..

Couple hurt on side of I-77 in Independence when semi-truck hits van

Victims say truck driver left the scene
    Posted: 07/27/2012

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - Dominique Rosa and his wife, Kim, had just pulled onto the shoulder of the road on Interstate 77 north in Independence to put antifreeze in the vehicle when they were hit by a semi-truck.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. on Thursday during a busy time on the roadway.
"We would've been dead, I think, if he would've another inch or two," Dominique Rosa said.
Kim Rosa was sitting in the driver's seat when she saw the truck barreling toward them through the side view
    mirror.
"The mirror disappeared right in front of my eyes and went flying towards my husband," Kim Rosa said.
Within seconds she said the truck's wheels were crushing the window and door, where she was sitting. Kim Rosa said the impact knocked the door into her right side hurting her arm, hip and leg.
Dominique Rosa was knocked to the ground by the impact where he stood in front of the van, adding the antifreeze.
"It must've started lifting this tractor trailer. Must've have started coming up. Another inch or two it would've drug me down the road like a deer," Dominique Rosa said.
The semi-truck driver then pulled up away from the scene and stopped his truck. He got out and walked around his truck, then drove off without checking on the victims he'd just hit. He then got off at the Pleasant Valley exit at mile marker 152.7.
"He just didn't think twice about our safety obviously. Must've been more concerned about his job, obviously, or what was going to happen to him," Kim Rosa said. "I just don't want this to happen to anybody else. He just left us there with no care at all," Kim Rosa said.
The Willoughby couple said the semi-truck was dull grey with red writing on the back of the trailer. They're hoping someone saw what happened and will call police.

They still have not caught this guy.
We are still hoping that someone who saw him pull over remembers what company truck he was driving or something that could help us catch him. We are left behind broken and with no transportation. My wife is missing work from her injuries which will further burden our situation.
We are both happy to be alive. Even with the difficulties.

Good luck finding the truck with that abysmal description lol! The wreck isn't funny or tolerable. That could've been anyone. For that reason, I always cross into the hammer lane when safe to do so.

And AL has the move-over law now if an emergency vehicle is stopped with lights on; only if it is safe to do so or if not you are supposed to slow down.

I usually move over for cars on the side of the road, you never know when someone will open a door and step out to far.

    Hope they catch him.

If nothing else, karma will get the sorry low life. Independence has a sizeable police dept and resources. Hopefully they'll get lucky. Drivers like that don't need to be on the road.

You know they solve a lot of crimes from off of security cams and tapes, perhaps someone should see what is on the road where he went off as far as stores.
