Wow!!!! I'd say the truck driver is very very very lucky to get a 28 month probation. Of course he still could loose everything in the lawsuit.

I am not surprised this was in Illinois. The drivers there are careless when it comes to people on the side of the road. a couple times I've been in the left lane because a trooper has pulled over someone. And I'll have someone come around me in the right lane. Right next to the trooper on the shoulder and fly by me going at least 70. I just hit the air horn to hopefully get the cops attention so he doesn't exit his vehicle. Don't know if that's a good idea or not. But I'd rather get a ticket for improper use of horn then see a trooper get hit. If I was a trooper and I saw that happen. I'd pull over that driver right away.
