Broken air line fitting? No problem!

So, your trailer brakes lock up about a mile from the TA shop because an air line fitting breaks. What do you do? Why, we drag the loaded trailer, complete with smoke and flames, through the fuel islands and park in the fuel lane while we search for a fire extinguisher! Seems legit.

Note the extinguisher powder on the ground...

Service calls cost money don't you know and you can't expect a driver to cage brakes!

Right, so now he's got to replace the brake shoes AND the drums! But at least he doesn't have to pay those road service rates!

give the guy a break. its hard enough dealing with the normal demands of driving with an iq of 47. you cant expect him to make on the spot decisions as well.

It's a good thing diesel is not flamable, just drag your burning trailer to the nearest fuel island and try to fight the fire there...

Many of the fuel islands (most/all?) have fire suppression systems.
Maybe he was looking for a helping hand?

I've only seen them in a few states; they're not universally required.

I was on I-10 fuel stop late one night, saw a driver drag a trailer with a tire on fire to pump island, and stopped. Later said he knew there was a water hose there.Luckily several fire extinguishers appeared, no real harm except to truck. Just not a bright thing to do.
