UPDATE - 6/11/13 - 10:30AM - According to Trooper Chuck Allen,
one I-80 eastbound lane in Winnemucca is now open, and they are hoping to have one west lane open within an hour.
The number of vehicles involved has also been increased to 27.
NHP says the crash happened on I-80 near mile marker 175, within the city limits of Winnemucca. About eight or nine vehicles crashed on the eastbound side and 17-18 cars crashed on the westbound side.
The man who died in the crash has been identified as 51-year-old Ravi Dyer from Chicago, IL. He was driving a commercial vehicle westbound on I-80. Due to low visibility, Dyers truck rear ended another commercial vehicle. Two other commercial vehicles then hit MDyer truck from behind. The passenger in Dyer's truck (unknown name at this time) was also seriously injured, and flown to a Reno Hospital.
At this time, NHP says 33 motorists were admitted to the Humbolt General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Three motorists were flown to a Reno hospital for serious injuries.
