Innocent people have ended up in prison because they talked to police without legal representation. No one has ended up in prison because they had legal representation before talking to police.

This case seems obvious, but the "nothing to hide/nothing to fear" mentality isn't bullet proof. If I was innocent and police were looking for me, you can bet your life that I'd have an attorney before talking to them.

So why wouldn't he just show them the truck? Because there is evidence. If this guy didnt do it them what's there to hide? That's my issue.

I don't disagree that he appears guilty.

I disagree with your (and many others) mentality that hiring an attorney before talking to police is evidence of guilt. The nothing to hide/nothing to fear thinking is why we're letting our privacy slip away.

I agree with you on that. But hiding the truck and hiding out? Guilty as sin.

No, he is innocent until a court finds him guilty. Your opinion means nothing (unless you're on the jury).

Did he hit those people, or a deer? This time if year up and down the Florida turnpike is off the hook with deer roaming on the travel lanes. My point is this, lets not convict until all the evidence is in. Right now all we have is questions. Even the authorities don't have answers yet. Let it run its course, if its proven he hit those young people then I will lead the charge with a rope.

You have to remember as well that the only part of the story we know is that two people were hit by a vehicle on the FL Turnpike and this Mercer driver is a possible suspect. That is all we know. Were they changing their tire half way in the travel lane with no lights or 4 ways on? Seen it happen, on the FL TPK no less. If a LE agency was looking to question me, I'd have an attorney as well, and my wife is in LE! From the news, it appeared that he wasn't hiding his truck, merely had it parked where he rents a space. <-(assumption) That is what we do down here as there is very little free truck parking. I don't know the whole story and neither does anyone here, but ya'll love to make stuff up even more than the "news".

Maybe I'm just old fashioned. I still believe innocent until proven guilty. I was convinced OJ did it, we see how that turned out. I was convinced Zimmerman was guilty also, we see how that turned out.
