Whew! Thank God. I thought I would not be able to read the morning paper on the way in to work!:biggrin_25525:

No way I would pay that. As a matter of fact that officer can use it to clean certain orifices.

I think they aught to get rid of texting all together. If you have something to say to me, call. We will finish faster than a 140 character text fest.

The news reporter was lying for some reason when she said that the woman's family told police she made a post on facebook before the accident. When the police investigate a fatal accident all they have to do is get the data from the cell phone provider and match it up with the cars computer to know exactly when she texted, what keys she hit, and the exact moment she sent it.

The media should stop with their lies, even the little ones.

I fail to see this 'lie' you speak of.

The family told investigators about the Facebook post which would be time stamped (8:33). The investigators obviously also have access to the time the 911 call was placed (8:44). So this is the information they released to the media and the reporter is reporting it as such. Where is the lie?

The lie is the misleading statement the media made. The family has nothing to do with the investigation, they can say the moon is made out of blue cheese and anyone can believe it if they want to..but that's not how investigations are conducted. The procedure for the investigation is to get the cell phone records to determine what happened and at what precise moment.

The media is full of liars, they don't want people to remember that texting and driving is an easy conviction for prosecutors, that's why they said 'family' alerted the police about the post on FB.

Wont work , it's human nature to believe it happens to the other guy .

Its the naturally occurring optimistic bias of the human mind.

Smokers are notorious for believing it's the other guy that gets cancer for example .

What about commuter buses and trains? Cabs? Why can't we just accept the fact that there's nothing you can do to fix stupid, and let Darwinism work the way nature intended. We don't need more rules and regs and technology bans. All we need is a simple understanding that you can be stupid and kill yourself or be killed by a stupid person in your vicinity, point is, buy life insurance, and never forget every moment that presents itself to tell those you care about how much you love them because you never know when your days is going to come.

but it does work, on people who actually are willing to learn... the rest, they are part of the epidemic, who believe government laws are the answer to everything.

Prohibition has never worked, to get the result wanted, but does lead to more crime. Those who refuse to learn history, and the consequences that actions bring, are destined to repeat the same mistakes.

And on your smoking comment, not everyone who smokes gets cancer. And everyone who gets cancer, was not a smoker. It is not a 1 to 1 correlation. With education of the risks associated with tobacco use, tobacco use has declined in the USA from 42% of the population in 1965, to 18% in 2012 according to the CDC.

    Since when?

I have been at accidents and the family is present and the police has asked them questions as well.

Especially when the family member makes a comment like, she was just posting on facebook or sent me a text at such a such time.
