I was hit yesterday by a distracted, probably texting driver.

True enough, I know there are plenty of lawyers out there who would take that angle, but I didn't even mean to suggest that I was watching only the car in front of me. Just that his movement caught my eye. His vehicle was actually obscuring my view of the oncoming car, so as soon as he was out of the way, I saw it. By then, there was just no time to react. I'll get my sleazy ambulance chaser to say it was his fault!

 

Indeed. I do intend to bring that (and how it will hurt my future job prospects) up with the insurance agency. Dart, for what its worth, was very understanding and knew immediately that I wasn't at fault, so at least I'm not at any risk of losing my current job. They handled the situation very well on their end.

She was just feet away from hitting the smaller car in front of me with a family of three in it. Had they not swerved at the last second, she would have hit them head on instead of me. As I think about it more, I know at this point that she was hitting something no matter what, and I'm just glad it was me in my big truck instead of that family in the little car. Truck is shot and I took a beating, but I walked away. The family might not have been so well off. I'm still debating on getting a lawyer since my x-rays came back clean, but for now, I'm going to hold out and wait to see what the insurance company offers. I'm not going to get greedy, but at the same time, I'm not going to let them low-ball me.
