Two semi-trucks blow over on I-8 near Gila Bend

Eastbound Interstate 8 was expected to be closed for several hours Thursday afternoon for wreckage removal from when two semi-trucks blew over near Gila Bend around 1 p.m., Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said.

Both trucks rolled onto their sides, completely blocking the eastbound portion of the freeway about 15 miles west of Gila Bend at mile post 99.5, west of Painted Rock Dam Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

All reported injuries were minor, and westbound lanes remain open.

How it happened isn't clear, but weather likely played a factor.
