I run this often. Its 60mph along that stretch. PLUS the light is partially hidden behind some trees and bushes on the inside of the curve. That intersection on the SB lanes needs that flashing light system used on other intersections throughout Ohio. Like in front of the Kroger DC on US36/Oh37.

Its essentially a blind curve. I use the WB traffic building up at he light on 229 to tell. And look for NB 23 traffic.

Not SB at 1000 feet. And there are NO warnings with lights on SB hidden by trees on approach. No signs to reduce speed rolling throough that intersection NOR the lighted warning.

There are reduce speed to 55 mph signs on both sides of the south bound lanes just before the inoperative flashing light. Since Werner trucks are governed I imagine the driver just ignored the sign..

that at truck is an eagle truck which is based out of Tucson, az. So the driver by Werner standards is considered an o/o. But he most likely a company driver who works for eagle leased onto Werner.

and btw o/o trucks are still governed but at different speeds such as Pegasus which just sells trucks, trucks are goverend to 80 on the floor and 75 on cruise, I think Werner o/o are 70 on floor and 65 on cruise. Not sure but I think eagle is same as Werner for set up.
Well, this puts a face on the story. http://www.abc6onyourside.com/news/...h-allowed-leave-jail-34468.shtml#.U_al3HZX-uY
did someone just get this wrong. Seems to me that this was a trainer and a trainee driving but did anyone catch this part of the report?

The State Highway Patrol also said the semi had been in operation for 12 hours. Drivers are mandated to take a four-hour break after driving ten hours, but it's not clear whether Lee had been driving for the entire 12-hour stretch.

where is it mandated that there be a four hour break? Maybe a 1/2 hour break.....but if it was either team or trainer truck and driver 1 drives 5 hrs takes 1/2 hour break and then drives 6 hours his shift is done. Driver 2 would have been off for 11 1/2 hrs and would be legal to drive. Where did they come up with the 4 hours off?

One of the things that freaks me out, and I don't know the legal system, maybe someone can explain, but they released this guy on a signature bond,( now you promise to pay, oh, I will, uh huh) didn't pay a dime, walks out of jail, what's to prevent this guy from hopping on a plane to Tahiti (or where ever), change his name, and never be seen again?

looks like one of those black Werner "dollar general" dedicated trucks, I almost always see them driving like idiots.

You can bet that eagles and Werner's legal team is all over it and that is most likely how was able to do a sig. Bond. Just speculating but that would be my guess

"Burton said drivers would often speed up instead of slowing down when they saw the flashing yellow lights."

I'm not interested in speculating other than to say could you imagine DOT taking out scales using the excuse "the offenders would just find a way around them anyway, so let's just go ahead and take them out." Come on, do your job.

For vehicles that need excessive distance to stop, those "prepare to stop" warning lights are extremely beneficial. Also, I don't think a reduction from 60 mph to 55 mph is enough. 45 mph seems more reasonable to me.

simply cuttting down some of the trees that block sight lines to the lights would be a great help. Perhaps a stop light on the NB side facing SB would help too.
