Around 1 am Monday morning two trucks were westbound on I 80 just west of Seward Nebraska...a driver from Missouri rearended the truck in front of him, both trucks caught on fire. The driver of the truck that rear ended the other was trapped in his truck and pronounced dead at the scene... the driver and passenger of the other truck were taken to the hospital. Sad... such a preventable accident. ..

    Sad for both drivers.
Be interesting to know if the front truck was a 58 MPH company truck and the rear truck was a 75 MPH truck. Rear truck dosing and doesn't notice the closing rate.
    Just sad.

Maybe the front truck put a brake check on the back truck because he thought he was to close..I see it all the time..You should always have enough space in front of you to be able stop no matter what the vehicle in front of you does.

I've never seen a big truck brake check. But, I'm tailgated so much on a daily basis I could easily duplicate this wreck, if I wanted. Luckily for all you suicidal tailgaters, I'm not a sociopath...

When my tailgaters scare me to the point of intervention, I simply hit my four way flashers. Usually at night when I can't stand their headlights any longer in my mirrors. They usually take the hint and pass. And if it's a stooge who has maxed his governer, I'll help facilitate the pass by a click down on my cruise control. Of course the thankful gentleman shows his appreciation by cutting me off and jumping right in front of me. Thanks driver.

I'm not responsible for what goes on behind me, but I would be responsible for what I run into. 58 miles an hour across the country usually don't have a problem tailgating, they keep passing me all day long, several more than once.

Well you can't expect him to lose 10 truck lengths over the next thirty miles, can you?
