Although accidents are never good to see, as I drove by this scene yesterday afternoon, it looked amazing that the truck driver survived. RIP to the woman killed, with thooughts and prayers for her family and friends.

Saw this soon after it happened. Really makes no sense, looks like driver just suddenly made a left turn, no skid marks. Can only speculate he possibly fell asleep.

Always a sad deal. A sudden left turn, to me , would indicate a mechanical failure, tire, steering, or driver losing consciousness, or maybe got cut off. We have to remember, these are machines operated by human beings, and whether we like it or not, this is going to happen. Our roads are set up for catastrophes like this, and until tall barriers line our medians, sadly, this will continue.

Or, maybe, we might consider the most common single-vehicle crash circumstances are; While driving straight on a clear, dry road in daylight conditions the vehicle leaves the roadway for no apparent reason, and occasionally they leave to the L and collect another vehicle head-on.

Media Update: "Police are looking into the truck drivers log book. They also did a blood alcohol test on the scene. That is required by law in all fatal crashes. They will also examine the truck for possible mechanical malfunctions.
The truck driver is Daniel Dunlea of New Hampshire and he works for Reas Trucking out of Billerica Massachusetts.
CBS 13 took a look at Dunleas driving record and he has speeding convictions in New Hampshire from 1995 through 2000, one in every year and two in 1997. The NH Department of Public Safety person CBS 13 spoke with could not say if those speeding violations involved his personal car or a commercial vehicle.

Although it appears they don't yet have any specific answers, it looks like the DOT is certainly looking at quite a few things... and I'll bet it has to do with that company's apparently bad SMS rating for Vehicle Maintenance Violations (DOT#481422). See https://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Carrier/481422/BASIC/VehicleMaint.aspx
