Hey easy now.. I drive for swift. However I am smart enough to look at my route and know if there is a low clearance that I have to avoid. Lol

The problem is these guys dont pay attention to those little details. They are to busy worrying about what sneakers they are gonna wear with witch hat .

You are right tho . Those companies put too many people in these trucks that just dont have a clue because they need to fill seats. They dont care if one or even a few trucks hit a bridge and the driver gets fired . They have 20 more in class waiting to fill that truck with lost hopes and busted dreams of being a supertrucker .

Those are the guys that do this job for all of the wrong reasons....:biggrin_25513:

You know it also never ceases to amaze me how many are just not willing to hold a person/driver accountable for their own mistakes... you always blame it on their company or the training... which is ludicrous. .. you have to be 21 to drive at most companies... and at that age you should be old enough to be accountable for the poor choices and mistakes you make...

Also, werner does teach map reading along with trip planing in their orientation.. they are also taught and told not to rely on gps... they are taught and told to utilize the laminated Rand Mcnally, just like the ones they use in class.. even given a 10% discount to buy the most current version at the company store where it costs only $35

Maybe instead of letting drivers off the hook for their irresponsible poor choices and blaming the companies would bring a little pride, professionalism, integrity and work ethic back...

In my mind part of a driver's job is to know how tall his truck is. But what do I know?

How bout the infamous truck eating bridge in Davenport IA, there are signs 11 miles out on hwy 61 stating low clearance thru trucks use I80 west to I280 East, and just before the bridge there are all kinds of lights and warnings and even those plastic tubes that hit the top of the truck, but some how drivers still mange to hit this bridge has not happened in a while though.
