Tanker hits SUV, explodes killing driver

Truck driver killed yet the title of the article seems to imply it was the truck drivers fault when the SUV was going the wrong way. Prayers for his family & friends.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a tank truck driver died after his rig struck an SUV going the wrong way down a one-way street, hit a convenience store's sign and exploded.
The accident happened early Friday morning in the St. Roch neighborhood.
Authorities say the truck's cab caught fire after hitting the store's sign. The driver did not make it out of the cab.
Police evacuated some homes in the area, but the residents were allowed to return home just before 6 a.m.
Police say the driver of the car fled the scene and was found at her home. Charges against her are pending.
Neither the victim's name nor that of the SUV's driver was released.

Of course the accurate headline would have read:
SUV hits gas tanker causing explosions, death.

But the average journalism major these days isn't interested in accuracy.

Perhaps, Yet when I read such articles having spent many years driving 18 wheeler's it makes me wonder if the journalist hopes many will see the title of the article & not read it thinking forever that it was the 18 wheeler's fault. I know many of them are very prejudices towards 18 wheeler drivers.

Wrong-way driver crashed into 18-wheeler, killing trucker, NOFD says

Wow, that was a bad one, thanks for posting it. So sad that the truck driver could not get out. And the article had pictures.

Yeahbut, to be fair, what any journalist knows about motor vehicle operation is no different than that of cops, judges, lawyers, doctors, Indian chiefs, priests, saints, sinners and truck drivers; essentially less than nothing because most of what they think they know is wrong.

"The accident happened early Friday morning in the St. Roch neighborhood."

You can flee police at high speed while drunk and steering with one foot through the sunroof, your crash in those circumstances is still an "accident". Couple years ago the Washington Post reported a suicide by deliberate motor vehicle crash, note and all, as an "accident".

There is almost no recognition of any negligence with the regard to the handling of motor vehicles or firearms in the US. The entire law enforcement community from top to bottom could not be more proud to classify any inadvertent/unintentional shooting or firearm discharge as "accidental" even though firearm safety principles are kindergarten-simple and if followed reduce the chances of an inadvertent/unintentional shooting to ZERO. TTBOMK, no journalist has ever questioned these monumental abandonments of logic once.
