I once watched a 40-year veteran driver do this on a narrow road. I was following him and he took a wrong turn up a small road. Came to a wide spot and he popped this u-turn, trailer pivoted just like that and pushed a pickup truck about three feet across a parking lot. Finished his turn and kept going. Someone flagged him down about a quarter of a mile up the road and got him stopped. Cray-cray.

I continued up about 1,000 feet and turned around in an empty lot with plenty of room. With that kind of "training" I didn't stay at that company very long.

Maybe someone who claimed 40 years did this, but a true 40 year vet?

That's actually a good "training video" and should be shown at some point in any CDL school. I'll venture to say many truckers, new and old, do not fully comprehend how much reverse and sideways movement you can get in a tight, hard U-Turn and how things in tight quarters can get screwed up. Once you get into a jackpot like that, I'm not sure if the driver could have "reversed out" of that situation without tearing something up, even if he wanted to. I'm sure they were thinking about that stupid CNG box on the back and worried about tearing it up if they tried various reverse maneuvers.

I didn't have any idea of how much the box can swing until this "trainer" did it right before my eyes. As I sat there and watched it unfold in slow motion and as I yelled increasingly louder at him through my windshield. Afterward he said he panicked and I believe him. It happens I guess.

[Reason for leaving: Company culture. You betcha. I had another "trainer" order me to run with the tandems all the way back. Flucking idiot. So, you know. Those people put me off trucking completely. I had nightmares for two weeks after I quit that place.]

Pretty pathetic people filming it. Probably stand there and film someone having a heart attack instead of doing something about it.

What the heck was this poor excuse for a trk driver thinken making a uturn when its clearly impossible without hitting something, stupid broad. Then she killed the tree and kept going, did'nt she feel it or what.At least she could have done was stop right then got out and checked.Sadly enough trk drivers are out there right now doing stupid stuff.
