Ready or not hear comes more laws.I learned to accept them even though they don't do any good and more tax dollars spent on what I see as usless laws. When a truck driver falls asleep at the wheel the driver and company should get the laws more enforce on them rather then the intire industry.Theres a lot more safe drivers and true professionals then ones that could care less.

The Black Horse driver's attorney says the video will exonerate him...
Yep, only if the judge and every member of the jury is blind.

Black Horse's safety-aimed hiring standards of only hiring drivers with 3 yrs minimum experience got blown outta the water with this driver.

Fatigue-related crashes are pretty rare wrt trucks. I strongly suspect many of those driver reports are excuses for other negligent and more embarrassing operating choices.

What i'm having trouble understanding is that VA Tech study that states cameras would prevent those accidents and save lives. That guy had a camera in his truck, he still caused an accident and killed someone. 2+2 not equaling 4. Showing people videos of truck wrecks or the aftermath of people who didn't secure a coil properly doesn't save lives. it might make someone think twice before doing something reckless, but it still happens.

i'll take whatever comes as it comes. the FMCSA could require cameras and i'll just drive naked. Hell i might even stop hard just so my company has to see me naked. =p hehe no shame!

What about pilots that fall asleep? I'm reminded of an airplane that overshot Minneapolis airport by 45 minutes, and the pilots claimed they were having a heated discussion and missed the airport. Yeah, right.:biggrin_25513:

I fail to see how installing a camera directly prevents accidents.

Accidents happen on and off camera all the time. I have cameras in and on my truck. Not facing me of course. I have them mainly for protection from other motorists who may try for an easy pay day.

Having them does nothing but act as a 3rd party witness to what ever it records.
