[h=1]Trucker kills 600-pound bear in southern Missouri[/h]Published November 19, 2014 Associated Press
THAYER, Mo. Missouri officials say a 600-pound black bear has been struck and killed by a semitrailer near the Arkansas border.
Paul Veatch with the Missouri Department of Conservation tells KAIT-TV the animal is being studied at a facility in Jefferson City. The semitrailer driver tells authorities he initially thought a cow had run into the side of his vehicle on Monday morning near Thayer.
Veatch says a Missouri trooper had to use a log chain to move the bear. Authorities used a front end loader to lift the animal from the ground into Veatch's truck.
He says the bear was likely bulking up for winter.
The department estimates about 400 bears live in southern Missouri.

I do most of my driving at night. I can't count the number of times out West I've been tailgated around 1:30am. I'm assuming the bars closed and these people are following my tail lights.
Once I kept bumping my cruise down from 65 to 40 and the person would not pass. So, all of a sudden there's a dead deer in the road. I cleared it no problem and then there was no lights or car behind me anymore!
I feel like getting a bumper sticker
"I can clear a dead deer. Can you tailgater?" -
I had a tailgater that followed me for miles on the interstate. In front of me was a truck tire still on the rim laying in the center of my lane. I cleared it just fine, but the tailgater car looked like it jumped 5 feet in the air. In my mirrors saw him make it to the shoulder with the tire and rim wedged underneath.

I used to have a friend that did crew transport for the railroad. He was lead van in a two van convoy, (no crew on board either of them,) and was tooling down I-25 somewhere just north of Trinidad, CO. Somewhere around Odark thirty in the morning. His van got T-Boned by a bear. Unbelievable amount of damage to that van. I guess it knocked the bear silly, he was down for almost a half hour, and right after CSP arrived on scene, (hadn't even got out of his car yet,) the bear got up and staggered off into the woods. Anyway, my pal was lucky, he kept it upright and had no injury. He was also kind of lucky that the accident was witnessed, as who is ever going to believe, "I got that damage when a bear ran into my van!" -
I use to ride a horse way back. I was just standing there on the edge of a meadow and a deer walked right up next to me. I didn't move a muscle then all of a sudden I yelled really loud. That freaking deer must have jumped 6 feet straight up with his legs running in mid air.

600lb would be like hitting a pig. I had a tailgaiter in MO on 60 westbound with a load of iced down sweetcorn. The guy would not get back and I called him on the CB cuz I saw an antenna. He didn't answer so I said, "I've got a load of battey acid on this truck and I think it's leaking but there's no place to pull over. He got on the CB and started swearing at me so I told him the Co 800 no. and to call them and they would pay for any damages. It was a an older Oldsmobile with faded paint so I bet he was thinkin fat wallet. The dispatch sure wanted to know what happened when I got to OKC. Lot's of laughs over that fool.
