SMH...
"Both occupants of the 1 ton truck, Dustynn Shrader, 32, of Texarkana, Texas and Mario Zambraro, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, were deceased at the scene. The driver of the 18 wheeler was taken to St. Michaels Hospital for his injuries."
Here's another news article on it, with more pics:

Where does it say anyone was asleep or had kids?
What does E-logs have to do with it?
It says the 1ton lost control and hit the guardrail?..could it be distracted driving?(cell phone)
we already have laws against cell phones..what would e-logs have helped?
It says it happened at 1pm in the afternoon w 2 people in the pickup?..im not thinking they were sleeping?magoo68, HalpinUout and Gunner75 Thank this. -
I think the bigger issue is so many of the serious truck crashes TODAY that turn into flaming hells for the initial crash surviving occupants. Before the requirements of the new EPA engine standards. Truck fires following serious crashes were VERY RARE just 5 years ago, now it's almost expected following a serious crash. WTF? Thank you idiotic bureaucrats and global warming activists ... for nothing.
You almost hope you can be thrown clear of a serious crash to avoid the almost instant cab explosion/fire. -
SHO-TYME, HalpinUout and Dr_Fandango44 Thank this.

The argument that you guys keep bringing up about ELD's is getting stupid. You guys/gals really need to grow up and get a new argument. ELDs are here to stay, whether or not they become mandatory for all is still yet to be seen, if so guess we will have one less #####er, whiner, and complainer. I for one like them.
runningman0661 Thanks this. -
The roads were wet around that area when I went through yesterday.

If I had to make a guess about the original cause of the crash (not knowing anything), I'd guess the ton rig pulling the construction equipment was not loaded properly (too heavy to the rear of the trailer) and the trailer got out of control at near highway speed (on the access road) and lost control and ended up in the interstate

the most famous crash of the year was a 65mph governed truck, with elogs, in a 45 zone. With the driver hired by a company with one of the most strict screening/hiring processes.
There were plenty more crashes by drivers on elogs. But oddly enough, some still see a crash headline and immediately hop on their podium to advocate elogs. -
