1 dead after 18-wheeler accident in ETX

Very sad situation, did not giv e much info on it, this is part of it.

"Deputies say an 18-wheeler caught fire on I-20 Tuesday morning, and the driver got out of the vehicle to check on the fire. The driver was then struck by another 18-wheeler. Deputies are not sure of what caused the fire."

    Shaggy Thanks this.

I hope the trucker that hit the other driver (dealing with the fire) is satisfied they did all they could to move over as far as possible prior to approaching the scene, otherwise they are going to have an especially hard time dealing with that event.

    Man, that sux!

I see truck drivers, more and more, that just can't be bothered to move over for a disabled vehicle..trucks or cars..even when the next lane is open. I don't know if it's sheer stupidity or they just don't give a ####.

I would hope the driver that ran the Atlas driver down made an effort.

That's true, some out there refuse to give room when there's room to give. When any vehicle is setting on the side of the road I do my best to give them as much room as possible. For you never know when someone might even accidentally step out in front of you.

That's why you guys gotta be careful out there, it's never safe to pull over on the shoulder because it's a lot of morons that shouldn't have a license operate a cmv or a car everywhere, driving nd not paying attention.

Are you familiar with the phrase "There was nothing I could do!"...?

The typical motorist teaches their kid to drive a like moron for 16 years. When that kid dies in a vehicle crash it was just an "accident".

People work on nothing more than developing a state of denial when it comes to the consequences of their willful negligence in motor vehicle operation. "Been doing it for 20 years and that's the first time THAT ever happened!"

I'm not on the interstate a whole lot any more, yet what little I am the traffic is quite heavy at times and you cannot get over because there's a vehicle beside of you.

Yet what gets me is those who have space to move over yet refuse to.

smokey bear obviously thinks giving a speeding ticket is worth risking your life and his, or else he would pull you over at the next exit

I believe I remember an Arizona State Trooper got hit & killed several miles back east of Tuscon in the late 70's while writing a ticket to a 4 wheeler. I was not a witness to it, I came by the spot it happned the next day and it was the talk of the CB Radio.

They were looking for the truck and I don't know if they ever found him or not. Its been a long time but I think it happned in the day time and someone who was suppose to have seen that was behind the truck a ways said the trucker went across the white line to hit the trooper on purpose.

I just never understood anyone doing something such as that. That's just stupid.
