The big fleets with multiple thousands of power units have so much exposure / annual mileage that they can almost be assured of x* fatality involvements per year, regardless of who is at fault - a sad but true numeric occurrence.

last I knew YRC (Yellow Roadway Corp) was around 12,000 power units.

    * Where x = hopefully as few as 2 or 3, if you will.

As we know, the federal entity who compiles the accident stats gives no regard to who is at fault. The number is the number on your safersys score, and that's as far as they can see, being feds and all...
These being the same folks who if you get a scale facility inspection type of ticket or similar that is disposed of as not guilty, nolled and or completely dismissed, the offense still remains upon your psp for a matter of years. Your option to get the problem removed from the psp is up to the decision of the arresting officer upon repeal. Don't think too many officers are going to make that happen and basically say they were wrong on paper and as a matter of federal record, do you? Due process and justice? - that's SO old fashioned [sarcasm]

I protested a level one OOS charge some years ago. I won. The arresting NY State Police officer K--- or perhaps it is spelled K---- made it very clear to anyone he met from my hometown for years after that if ever he saw any truck from my fleet again...
